Who I am
My name is Shaun Musson. I am the author of The Retrieval Chamber books, and my website address is https://shaunmusson.com.
Comments
When you leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. This detection is provided by Akismet. To learn how your comment data is processed, see their Privacy Policy.
Please note that hostility, threats, insults, and discrimination of any kind will not be permitted. To ensure your online safety, all comments are moderated before approval and may take up to 24 hours to appear.
For a profile picture to be displayed, an anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. If so, then upon approval of your comment your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment. Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included: visitors to the website would then be able to download and extract any location data from those images.
Contact forms
If you use the contact form to contact me, I will receive an email containing the date and time you sent the message, and any of the following pieces of information you provide in the form: name, email address, subject of message and the message body. The information collected will be kept until your message is processed and, if relevant, replied to.
Cookies
This site is based on WordPress, which requires the use of cookies. The cookies are not used by me to track you to other sites, or to recognise you on any return visits to this site. The cookies used on this site are first-person session cookies, which are exempt from consent according to the EU advisory body on data protection- WP29. See our Cookie Policy.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. Analytics

How long I retain your data
i. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained until that comment is deleted from the site. This is so that comments remain visible to visitors. Data described under ‘Analytics’ above may be retained for a maximum of one year, but is usually deleted periodically at shorter intervals.
ii. For subscriptions, a name and email address is required. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link on the email.
Third-Party Services
This site contains links to other websites, including Amazon, that are operated by third parties. I have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
i. When you click a ‘Shop Now’ button on this site, you are redirected to your nearest Amazon store via a universal link, and these links are provided by Booklinker. I collect no information from this service and have no control over it. Booklinker is owned by Georiot Networks and powered by Geniuslink, and their privacy policy is available at Booklinker Privacy Policy. As I am not a member of the Amazon Associates (Affiliates) Program, I do not earn additional revenue from this service.
ii. When you subscribe to my newsletter, your name and email address are stored until such time as you unsubscribe. You can do this at any time by clicking ‘Unsubscribe’ on the newsletter emails, or by using the Contact form on this website. I use MailPoet as my email service provider. When a newsletter is sent, your name and email address are temporarily sent to MailPoet’s secure servers. MailPoet does not store, share or sell your data to third parties. What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, sent a message via my contact form, or subscribed to my newsletter, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
