This time, the male lead is a traumatised ex-squaddie, wrestling with his own life as much as the role that’s thrust upon him. Set in the area I grew up in, the standalone prequel features new characters from non-privileged occupations. Watch out for one or two familiar faces, though, in this twisting, gritty study of intrigue in a world where trust cannot be given lightly … and where nothing can be taken at face value…
